St. Antony’s Church, Kannamaly is a faith-filled parish with a sacred heritage spanning over 281 years. Rooted in devotion and shaped by resilience through history, the Church stands today as a living testimony of God’s grace and the loving intercession of St. Antony, serving as a spiritual home for generations of faithful.
The Kannamaly St. Joseph Nercha Sadya, observed since 1905, commemorates a miraculous healing from a cholera outbreak. Held annually on 19th March, the feast remains a powerful expression of faith and thanksgiving.
The Miraculous Statue of St. Joseph of Kannamaly, brought from Spain in 1905, is a treasured sign of God’s grace, drawing countless devotees who seek his powerful intercession.
The St. Joseph feast day at St. Antony’s Church, Kannamaly, is celebrated annually on March 19 with a massive, historic "nercha sadhya" (holy communal meal) that feeds over 100,000 to 150,000 devotees
The tradition began in 1905 when the local community was struck by a severe cholera outbreak. It is believed that after praying to St. Joseph, the community shared a meal and the epidemic subsided, establishing this annual feast of gratitude.
